AFCAT Exam 2/2020: The Indian Air Force conduct Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) twice a year for recruitment of Commission officer in IAF Flying Branch, Technical Branch & Ground Duty Branch. This Exam is customised in such a way to evaluate the aspirants level of concepts and intelligence etc. AFCAT Exam 2/2020 Notification is out last week.

AFCAT Exam Eligibility Criteria
Indian Air Force (IAF) is going to conducts AFCAT Exam for recruitment of various young dynamic talented persons for various branches of IAF like Flying, Technical & Ground Duty Branches. The below given eligibility criteria are mandatory to apply for Upcomming AFCAT 02/2020 Exam.
- Nationality: Candidate must be a citizen of India.
- Age for Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years as on 01 January 2021.
- Age for Ground Duty Branch: 20 to 26 years as on 01 January 2021.
- Marital Status: Candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried at the time of commencement of course.
- The date of birth accepted by the IAF is that entered in the Matriculation Certificate.
Qualification for AFCAT Exam 2020
- Flying Branch: Candidates should have 12th pass in Science Stream with 60% Marks and Graduation/BE/B Tech degree/AMIE Etc.
- Ground Duty (Technical) Branch: Candidates should have 60% Marks in BE/B Tech degree/AMIE Etc.
- Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches: Candidates should have 60% Marks in Graduation degree.
Latest AFCAT 2/2020 Exam Pattern
The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) examination consists of written examination in online mode (i.e. English, GK and Elementary Mathematics). Candidates cleared the written examination are called for the Interview by Service Selection Board (SSB). The Interview of the candidates includes the Intelligence and Personality Test. It is mandatory for the candidates opting for Ground Duty (Technical) branch to appear in both AFCAT as well as Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT).
Overview of AFCAT Written Exam 02/2020
- The CBT is multiple choice objective type questions (MCQ) based.
- The total Duration of Exam is Two Hours for all Branches.
- Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) is for 45 min for Technical Branches Only.
- The AFCAT (and EKT) will be conducted in two days (Each Day Two Shifts)
- The total of 300 marks is to be commenced in AFCAT Exam.
- Whereas EKT consist of 150 Marks.
- Each question carries 03 marks.
- There will be negative marking for each wrong answer.
Syllabus of AFCAT 2020 Exam
Air Force Selection Board (AFSB): Intelligence and Personality Test
Candidates who are declared successful in the Online AFCAT will be called at one of the Air Force Selection Boards. Candidates who have applied for NCC Special Entry will be directly called for AFSB testing at one of the AFSB centres.
The SSB procedure consists of two stage Selection process - stage I and stage II. Only those candidates who clear the stage I are permitted to appear for stage II. The details are:-
-> Stage-I. Officer Intelligence Rating Test along with Picture Perception and discussion test will be conducted on the first day.
-> Stage-II. Psychological test will be conducted on Day 1(Afternoon) and the Group Tests and Interview would commence after document check for the next five days.
-> For Flying Branch. Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) would be administered to recommended candidates only.
The personality of a candidate is assessed by three different assessors viz. The Interviewing Officer (IO), Group Testing Officer (GTO) and the Psychologist. There are no separate weightage for each test. The marks are allotted by assessors only after taking into consideration the performance of the candidate holistically in the entire test. In addition, marks for Conference are also allotted based on the initial performance of the Candidate in the three techniques and decision of the Board. All these have equal weightage.
The various tests of IO, GTO and Psych are designed to bring out the presence/absence of Officer Like Qualities and their trainability in a candidate. Accordingly candidates are Recommended or Not Recommended at the SSB.
